Welcome to the Student Florida Education Association and the National Education Association Student Program
If you are a student attending one of Florida's colleges or universities and preparing to become a teacher, the Student Florida Education Association is the professional organization for you!
There are many advantages of beign a part of the SFEA Program and a member of the education family of the Florida Education Association, the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. Those Benefits include:
Legal Services: The NEA-Student Program provides $1 million in professional liability coverage. This coverage is very important when you work as a pre-intern or intern. We also offer many other legal services such as will writing, consulting, etc.
Professional Workshops for Educators: We cover interviewing skills, teacher preparation, classroom management and organization, teaching strategies, stress management, diversity training and much, much more. Professional trainers in the FEA, AFT and NEA are ready to help you.
Publications: "Wisdom on Demand" A CD-ROM guide to professional "best practices" and success. NEA Today, Tomorrow's Teachers, and the FEA ADVOCATE are available to members.
Dues Rebate After Graduation: During your first year of teaching as a regular "active teacher" member in Florida, you'll be eligible to receive a rebate of $20 for each year you were a student member.
Scholarships: Student members are eligible for Scholarships and Leadership training: Members can gain skills in communication, time management, group management, organizing, and publishing.
Community Outreach: Student members can work alongside peers and working professionals to make positive differences in communities across the country. Special grants are available to student chapters that want to start an outreach program. Local FEA affliates are also available to help.
Technical Support and Assistance: If you have got a great idea for a campus workshop but need some help to pull it off, FEA, AFT, and NEA can help. Student Program members are part of a network that includes local association leaders, FEA staff, state affliate officers, and staff at FEA, AFT and the NEA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Legislation and Lobbying: FEA, NEA, and AFT offer strong support for America's public schools on national and state levels. As a member, you can be a part of this process and support pro-public education legislation.
